What is Astrae Māyā?

Light in the dark. Truth in the heart.

Before Astrae Māyā became a place, it was a feeling.

The feeling that beneath the noise of everyday life, beneath our roles, expectations and fears, there is something that has never left us.

A quiet light.

A deeper truth.

Astrae Māyā was born from a desire to create spaces where you can slow down enough to reconnect with that part of yourself.

Not to become someone else.

Not to fix yourself.

But to remember what has always been there.

Through movement, sound, stillness, belonging and exploration, each Ritual becomes an invitation to return to yourself, with curiosity, compassion and presence.

What does “Astrae Māyā” mean?

Every name tells a story.

Astrae is inspired by the stars, symbols of guidance, wonder and the vastness that reminds us there is always more than what we can immediately see.

Māyā (माया), a Sanskrit word, is often translated as illusion, but its meaning is far richer.

In the ancient philosophy, Māyā is the veil through which we perceive the world. It is not simply something false, but the ever-changing reality that can sometimes distract us from seeing more deeply. It reminds us that what appears on the surface is not always the whole story.

For Astrae Māyā, this veil is not something to fight against.

It is something to gently look through.

Not to escape life, but to experience it with greater awareness.

To move from reaction to presence.

From seeking outside to listening within.

From uncertainty to a truth that feels deeply your own.

From shadow, to light.

The essence

At Astrae Māyā, we don’t believe you need to become a different person.

We believe you deserve the space to meet yourself honestly.

There is no perfect version of you waiting at the end of the journey.

No race towards enlightenment.

No expectation that healing follows a straight line.

Instead, we believe in slowing down.

Listening.

Feeling.

Questioning.

Exploring.

Because sometimes the answers don’t arrive when we search harder.

Sometimes they appear when we create enough space for them to emerge.

Each Ritual is an invitation.

Not to tell you who you are.

But to accompany you as you discover it for yourself.

If Astrae Māyā were a practice?
Not one. Because no single practice holds every answer. The practice is learning to listen.

If Astrae Māyā could leave you with one thought?
Light in the dark, Truth in the heart. Because the light and truth you are looking for are already within you, in your heart.

And you?

If you were to slow down for a moment… What is asking to be seen?

About Maeva

Who are you?

Hi, I’m Maeva.

Toulouse saw me born, the world saw me blossom, and now I have found my ground in London.

Fun fact in Polynesian, Maeva means “welcome”, I suppose I was given the right name to create spaces where people feel at home.

So… welcome here ☺️

Now to answer the question… For a long time, I followed the path I thought I was supposed to follow: long studies, a career, a home, a relationship and financial security.

Until one day, I looked around and thought:

“I have everything I am supposed to. So why am I not happy?”

So, I left.

I sold my home, left my permanent job and travelled the world for two years.

And somewhere along the way, I didn’t become someone else.

I expanded!

What were you looking for?

When I left, I carried a question with me:

“Who am I?”

I realised I had spent 30 years listening to what I was supposed to be, do and achieve ; trying to make everyone happy, except myself.

I had become so disconnected from my own needs, my body and my emotions that I couldn’t answer the simplest question.

So I started listening.

To my body.

To my heart.
To my intuition.
To what made me feel alive.

And for the first time, I began to truly meet myself.

What did you discover along the way?

I discovered how to be.

I discovered how much of life we can live on autopilot, disconnected from ourselves, following ideas of who we should be, what we should want, do and achieve, even how we should live. But rarely how to simply be yourself.

Travelling taught me to question those limits.

To meet different people, to see the world differently.
To step outside what was familiar.
To stay curious instead of certain.

To learn. To explore. To discover.

It opened me to new cultures, spirituality and ways of understanding ourselves and the world around us.

And one question simply led to hundreds more.

Did you have your own healing journey too?

Absolutely.

And it is a big part of why I do what I do.

My story hasn’t been smooth, I have experienced violence, abusive relationships and traumas that left deep wounds. For a long time, I carried things I didn’t fully understand, while trying to keep going. For a long time, like many people, I looked outside myself for answers.

Why is this happening to me?
What is wrong with me?
What do I need to fix?

Now, I see things differently. Not by pretending the difficult experiences hadn’t happened, and certainly not by sweeping them under the carpet. But by observing them, because I’ve discovered that we can choose what we do with what we’ve experienced.

Every time I fell, I found a way to get back up.Every time I fell, I found a way to rise.

Not unchanged.

Expanded.

From a seed to a blooming flower.

Where did your curiosity take you?

After my father suddenly passed away in 2019 in a plane crash, I started looking for answers in places I had never looked before.

Numerology was my first doorway.

Then came tarot cards, astrology, self development, books, and different therapeutic approaches.

And then I really went into a deep dive.

I discovered ancient spirituality in Egypt and India, yoga philosophy and sound healing in India, reiki in Japan, vipassana in Thailand and Laos and more; each opening a different door into the way we understand ourselves, others and the world around us.

I’m still learning.

I always will.

So, what do you actually do?

Well, I’m not here to fix anything for you.

You are already on the right path, you already have all your answers within.

I simply create spaces where you can slow down, reconnect and explore what is present ; and, when needed, I bring a little light to the path.
Sometimes we talk.
